Omaha Holdem - Poker Rules

Omaha is quickly catching up with the likes of Texas Hold am and 7 Card Stud games to be one of the leading poker games on the net. With more and more poker rooms offering this feature more and more poker players are getting tempted to try out the budding craze. While Texas Hold em is a 7 card game, Omaha is a nine card game.

There are still the three games possibly to be played just as there is in Texas Hold em; Limit, No Limit and Pot Limit.

How to Play?

The two players to the left of the dealer butt on place the small and the big blinds. The blinds are bets placed before any of the cards are seen. This makes the game fair in such a way that people cannot fold all the time and still win.

Once the blinds are placed then each player gets dealt four cards that are face down. Betting begins with the player to the left of the person who placed the big blind.

There are then three cards that are dealt face up in the middle of the table called the flop, just like Texas Hold em.

There is another round of betting.

There is then a fourth card placed face up in the middle of the table next to the flop. This card is known as the turn.

Another round of betting takes place.

Then the fifth and final card known as the river is placed face up in the middle of the table with the other four cards. There is then another round of betting.

To win, each player has to take two out of their four cards that were dealt to them and three of the cards that were dealt face up on the table to make the best poker hand. The winner is the person with the highest hand or is still in the pot. If there are two winning hands then the pot is split.
